Abstract

Now-a-days due to the increase in number of automobiles there has been an extensive use of automobiles in day-to-day life. Usage of vehicles reduces the journey time but at the same time it increases the harmful gases like Butane, propane, CO, LPG etc levels which has a severe effect on human health. For example Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas, but, being colorless, odorless, tasteless, and initially non-irritating, it is very difficult for people to detect. Carbon monoxide is a product of incomplete combustion of organic matter due to insufficient oxygen supply to enable complete oxidation to carbon dioxide (CO2). It is often produced in domestic or industrial settings by older motor vehicles and other gasoline-powered tools, heaters, and cooking equipment. Symptoms of mild acute poisoning include light headedness, confusion, headaches, vertigo, and flu-like effects; larger exposures can lead to significant toxicity of the central nervous system and heart, and even deathThis project eliminates the above problems. The proposed projects detects the level of Carbon Monoxide and whenever it reaches threshold (harmful) limit the engine of the vehicle will be turn off and the buzzer will be switched on. It also gives a visual display on LED. Thus, saving the environment and human lives from the dangerous, life threatening effects of several hazardous gases like butane, propane, CO and LPG etc.


This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer
